Landslide Release:
Mutual Transport Layer Security (mTLS)
Security concerns are on the rise and 5G networks are adapting. This is particularly important in mitigating the risk with moving deployments to the cloud. One of the newer mechanisms being deployed to this end is Mutual Transport Layer Security (mTLS). Whereas with regular TLS, one end requests a certificate from the other to authenticate it, with mTLS both sides exchange certificates to authenticate each other. Landslide 20.6 provides the ability to enable mTLS on multiple interfaces within the SBA.

Landslide 20.6 also introduces several other noteworthy enhancements including expanded Security Edge Protection Proxy (SEPP) test and emulation capabilities, expanded 3GPP R16 support, and new 5G testing features noted below.

Release 20.6
Key New Features mTLS: Support for mutual Transport Layer Security (mTLS) on multiple interfaces within the SBA including: Nausf, Nudm, Nsmf, Npcf, Namf, Nchf and Nudr

SEPP Test & Emulation: Enhanced to support roaming scenarios with procedures such as N32-f message forwarding, error reporting and indirect communication via SCP for inter-PLMN messaging

3GPP R16: December 2020 R16 support added to AUSF Nodal and AUSF Node

NEF testing over N33: Ability to test the Network Exposure Function (NEF) over N33 (T8 reference point) for ChargeableUser API by emulating the Application Function (AF)

EPS to 5G HO with Direct Forwarding: This is a new R16 capability

UPF Nodal Enhanced Scalability: Ability to support up to 200 DNN (up from 15)

Expanded 5G Testing: NAT emulation for AMF Nodal and scalability enhancements for CU Nodal
