Landslide: What is a TAC Report and how do I generate one?
Environment/Versions
Landslide Test Server
Answer
A TAC Report is designed as an aid to troubleshooting a test session with your support representative. A TAC Report is a zipped file containing the cumulative Test Report for each test case, the exported test session, and the Test Log.
This single file can then be sent to the support engineer. When you generate a TAC Report, you will be prompted for a location and file name. TAC Reports are not saved on the TAS.
To generate a standard TAC report:
If possible based on load, please make sure that port capture is enabled and re-run the test to reproduce the issue. Once reproduced, stop the test.
To collect all debug logs, first click on the Test Session Window Reports menu and select Generate TAC Report and follow the instruction to save it.
Additionally, open the Test Results page to collect the generated pcap trace by clicking on the Test Results button on the top bar if the trace was enabled.
Both the TAC report and PCAP can be sent to support for review.
To generate a Level 10 TAC Report:
It is possible support will request additional logging on the TS to debug an issue. In order to generate a higher level TAC report please perform the following additional steps prior to reproducing the issue.
First, debug mode will need to be enabled on the Test Server by opening the Tester Server Admin window. Select the Test Server on the left and click on the Debug/Trace button.
With the Set Test Server debug window open, check the Set Debug Mode and use the pull down to select Enable.
Check the Set Trace Mask, and click on the radio button next to Function at the bottom of the list to enable full debug mode.
Enter the cfguser password if necessary and click OK to allow the Test Server Application layer to get re-initialized in debug mode. Please wait a few minutes while the Test Server Application layer gets re-initialized. With the Test Server in the ready state, you will see the debug trace levels set on the Test Server Admin window General tab.
Now with Debug enabled, re-run the test as explained above as you would to generate a standard TAC report and collect the pcap trace.
Gather the additional debug logs by selecting Logs button at the button of the Test Server Admin window followed by the cfguser password.
Note that if you used multiple ports in your test with Reserve Ports and Processes, you will need to download all the ts.log.9 to and ts_x.log.9 down to ts.log.7 files for each TS process. If you have used ports without reserve processes, you can just download the Process TS[0] files.
Once you have saved the TAC report, pcaps, and debug logs you can zip them and send them to support for review.
Please remember to disable debug mode by returning to the Test Server Admin window and clicking the Debug/Trace button and checking Set Debug Mode to disabled.
Click on OK and wait a few seconds for the Test Server Application layer to reset back to normal mode.
