Positioning Application: The scenario stops with message "Fatal: Low rate task not ready, aborting"

  • PosApp (SimGEN / SimREPLAYplus / SimREPLAY)
Answer
  • Indicates that the PosApp 'low rate thread' has failed to complete its process cycle in the permitted timeframe.
  • The most common cause is related to PC performance limitations interrupting PosApp processes.
  • Likely sources of such delay are:-
    • Anti-Virus software
    • Network Applications
    • Limited harddrive space or the harddrive perhaps requires a de-fragmentation, on a C50R the D Drive can fill up if bulk logging is enabled on a long scenario
    • Other software running on the PC which has taken over CPU resources at a key moment
    • The PC has not been set up for "Best Performance"
    • The PC has multicore capability disabled
       
  • The user should check all of the above as possible causes and take appropriate steps to try and eliminate each one. For example;
    • Disconnect the host PC from the network
    • Change the [Performance->Settings] from within [My Computer->Properties] to be "Best Performance".
       
  • If following the above list of suggestions has no effect, try:-
    • Increasing the RAM- Not for the C50R
    • A different host PC (taking into account the above list of primary causes). Not for the C50R
       

If there is still no improvement after considering the above then contact Spirent Global Services as follows:-

  1. Send a copy of the PosApp_message_log.txt and PosApp_engine_message_log.txt files from a scenario run that ends with the error message
        - This file will confirm software and hardware details
        - It will also show the sequence of events leading to the error message
  2. Confirm that the advice given in this article has been followed and what, if any, change was observed
