How to avoid call drop for EVDO Rev.B RF testing

Answer

Call setup level is important for EVDO Rev. B terminal RF testing and you should be careful to set this value for the 3.3.1 sensitivity testing especially. The call setup level in the mobile file for the default is -90dBm, this will not have issue on most of 1x and EVDO Rel.0 and Rev.A terminal test cases, but when doing the Rev.B test 3.3.1 Receiver Sensitivity and Dynamic Range – Test 4 will always incomplete during testing, when we looking into the comm.log, there is a warning says:

"Digital856 call processing error; Carrier is dropped due to ATRevCDMAChannelDropped message received;Carrier = Aux1"

As this call is due to the terminal actively dropped call, we can analysis the terminal Multi Carrier Power message via QXDM log, if we set call setup level to -90dBm, and resume our script set open loop power adjust as -78dB, so each carrier will have open loop Tx power around 12dBm.

Also for the Rev.B terminal the total Tx power should be at 23-3.3dBm=19.7dBm, after all the necessary calculation, it will lead to the PA headroom error and drop the call at AUX carrier.

So, what is the solution to continue testing for this case? Either enlarge the open loop power adjust value (-78 or higher) or just increase the call setup power level in the mobile file.

We have seen different FFAs will behave some different for call setup level, some work for -85 and some work for -75, anyway, when you encounter the call drop at AUX1 carrier, please increase the call setup level in the mobile file to avoid call drop.
