GNSS Simulators: PosApp reports "No hardware timers are correctly configured for timer card operation" when I try to use my GNSS simulator at 250Hz (4ms)
To run the simulator at 250Hz (4ms) scenario iteration rate:-
The simulator must be installed with firmware v1.24 or later.
Your system needs to have been provided with a PCI Timer Card, fitted in the PosApp (SimGEN) host PC, along with an accompanying cable assembly (D-type to 2 x BNC cables, labelled "INTERRUPT IN" and "EVENT MARKER").
Set the simulation iteration rate to 4ms in menu [Options-->General Options]
Enable menu setting [Options-->Control Options-->Utilise timer card if available] (restart PosApp if this setting was previously disabled)
The chosen TIMER output on the Master simulator needs to be configured as a 'gated' UPDATE via the PosApp software Options menu (see
The D-type end of the cable assembly needs to be fitted to the Timer Card in the PosApp host PC and the "INTERRUPT IN" BNC cable needs to be connected to the chosen TIMER output on the Master simulator.
- NOTE 1 : A standalone system set-up using a single simulator assigns that unit as the "Master" by default. Multibox simulator systems will have one unit designated as the "Master" (refer to the appropriate interconnection diagram if in doubt)
- NOTE 2 : The hardware user manual,
, contains an interconnection diagram demonstrating the 250Hz cable connection
- NOTE 3 : By default Spirent suggests use of the TIMER 2 output for 250Hz operation but any TIMER output from the Master unit is acceptable.
If step 5 above is not followed then PosApp will report the warning message shown in Figure 1:
If step 6 above is not followed then PosApp will get caught in a "Trigger Wait" state - indicated by the flashing red status message in the bottom right-hand corner of the application:
