The mask is an interger value that will turn on/off bits depending on the value. A value of 255 will turn on bits 1111 1111 A value of 240 will turn on bits 1111 0000 For the value of 240, these bits are 16, 32, 64, 128. Any combination of these such as 48, 80, 96, etc is also used. So when using Modifier type of Random and setting the mask to 240 with a starting value of 1000 will give +/- values of those enabled bits. (mostly minus values)
