Spirent TestCenter: How do I connect to Spirent TestCenter serial console port with HyperTerminal Using Windows 7?

Answer

In Windows 7, by default HyperTerminal is not there, but you can create it.

  • In Windows 7, Open Control Panel, Open Phone and Modem Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Hardware and Sound, and then clicking Phone and Modem Options.

or you can create HyperTerminal in Windows

  • Open any Windows XP system copy 4 following  files 
1) C:\Program Files\Windows NT\HYPERTRM.EXE
2) C:\Windows\Help\HYPERTRM.CHM
3) C:\Windows\Help\HYPERTRM.HLP
4) C:\Windows\System32\hypertrm.dll
 
Open Windows 7 system and create a folder name of "HyperTerminal" under Program Files then paste 4 files
Create shortcut -"C:\Program Files\HyperTerminal\HYPERTRM.EXE"
Open short cut HyperTerminal is ready configure as demonstrated in attachment

Set the hyperterm com port properties:

  • Bits per second 9600
  • Data bits 8
  • Parity None
  • Stop bits 1
  • Flow control None
