Positioning Application: PosApp reports error message "incorrect number of channels for output 1" with GSS6700

Environment/Versions
  • PosApp
  • SimGEN
  • SimREPLAYplus
  • SimREPLAY
  • GSS6700
Answer
  • This error message occurs when there is a mismatch between the sig_gen.txt and the signal generators capability. For example, your sig_gen.txt may be setup for 12 channels but your GSS6700 may be capable of simulating 24 channels (figure 1)

  • The main cause for this error is likely to be that you have recently upgraded your signal generator with the use of a feature key but you have not installed your new sig_gen.txt in the PosApp directory. If you have not received a new sig_gen.txt when being supplied with a feature key please contact support@spirent.com and quote the serial number of your unit.
  • If you were to have too many channels on your sig_gen.txt you would see an error similar to that in figure 2. In this example your sig_gen.txt is setup for 36 channels, but your GSS6700 is only capable of simulating 24 channels.

  • If you have recently received a new sig_gen.txt from Spirent Communications due to a feature upgrade it is possible that you see the above error message because you have installed the new sig_gen.txt but not completed the feature upgrade of your GSS6700.
  • If this is the case please follow the steps found in DCS0038B.
  • If you have followed these steps and the error message remains please contact support@spirent.com and quote the serial number of the signal generator and the feature key being used.
