Spirent TestCenter : Where do I find Exception and Session Log files for Spirent TestCenter GUI or when using Lab Server (Session Manager)?

Answer
  • For TestCenter GUI on the PC, the Log files are located:

° Log files on Windows XP: 

C:\Documents and Settings\your_name\My Documents\Spirent\TestCenter4.X\Logs (the log file will be timestamped for the start or the application session, please zip the directory and send to support)
C:\Documents and Settings\your_name\My Documents\Spirent\TestCenter4.X\ExceptionLogs

° Log files on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 :

C:\Users\your_name\Documents\Spirent\TestCenter4.X\Logs (the log file will be timestamped for the start or the application session, please zip the directory and send to support)
C:\Users\your_name\Documents\Spirent\TestCenter4.X\ExceptionLogs

 

  • For TestCenter GUI on the Lab Server (Session Manager), the Log files are the same location except the bll part of the session logs:
 
Method 1 - From the Session Manager --> Get Results
 
1 - Select the session you want to retrieve the logs for
2 -Click on "Get Results"
3 -Check "Save Log/Results"
4 - Specify the directory where you want to save the log files to in "Copy To"
5 -Click on "Select Logs"
6 -Click "OK"
 
Method 2 - when you close the GUI
 
1 - When you close the GUI a "Exit Remote Test Session" dialogue box pops up
2 - Select "Terminate Test Session"
3 - As needed check "Save Configuration" and/or "Save Logs/Results"
4 - Specify the "Save As" and/or "Copy To" locations
5 - Click "OK"
 
You can adjust the default location for logs and results in the GUI: 
Tools->Options->User Data, where you can set the default directory for logs, results, templates, etc.
