What happens if a GSS6400 is used in below its minimum specified operating temperature of 0C?

Answer

Outside of the minimum temperature specification there may be a number of different side effects. The most notable are:-

  1. The battery performance is significantly impaired.
  2. The LCD is likely to become unreadable, as a result of poor battery performance.
  3. It will take much longer for the internal OCXO frequency to stabilise
  4. It will take longer to begin signal recording / signal playback, as a result of having to wait longer for the OCXO to stablise.

However, with the above limitations accounted for, the GSS6400 should still record and playback at temperatures down to -20oC.
