Spirent TestCenter: When I create a StreamBlock with the Traffic Wizard with orientation Bidirectional, then edit to verify, why is the orientation Unidirectional and grayed out?
Environment/Versions
Spirent TestCenter
Traffic Wizard vs Manual configuration
Answer
Once a StreamBlock(s) is created in the Wizard, there is no such a thing as a Bidirectional StreamBlock.
When you run the StreamBlock Traffic Wizard and select Endpoints - Orientation Field, you are only choosing Traffic Direction(s) between the Endpoints.
This will create either 1 or 2 Unidirectional StreamBlocks:
Unidirectional from Device Port 1 to Device Port 2 creates 1 Unidirectional StreamBlock from Device Port 1 to Device Port 2.
Bidirectional from Device Port 1 to Device Port 2 creates 2 Unidirectional StreamBlocks, one from Device Port 1 to Device Port 2 and the other from Device Port 2 to Device Port 1.
You will find one StreamBlock under each port.
When you Edit/View a StreamBlock, you are viewing is from a Port Perspective and you will see Orientation - Unidirectional and it will be grayed out.
Once created there is no capability to Edit the Bidirectional characteristic of the StreamBlock.
Similarly to this behaviour, if you choose Distribution -Fully Meshed, when you Edit/View a StreamBlock, from the Port Perspective it is Backbone and appears that way.
