iTest: What is the purpose of Global topology/testbed? How do we set a topology/testbed as global?

Answer

When a topology or testbed is set as Global, then, if you execute any testcase that does or does not specify a Local topology/testbed, Spirent iTest asks whether you would like to use the Global topology/testbed for execution as shown in the screenshots

Specifying a topology as the Global topology

In the iTest Explorer or Favorites view, right-click the topology and select Set As Global Topology.

To undo the setting, right-click the Global topology and select Clear Global Topology or specify that another topology is the Global topology.

The icon for the Global topology is marked to distinguish it from other topologies:

 

 

Specifying a testbed as the Global testbed:

 

In the iTest Explorer or Favorites view, right-click the testbed and select Set As Global Testbed.
