Positioning Application: How do I modify the UTC offset?

Answer
  • PosApp Versions before V2.90 only support UTC offset control via the constellation file.
    • This is equivalent to choosing the 'Legacy' option in the following section.
  • From PosApp V2.90 onwards you decide what "UTC offset mode" you want from the “Start time and duration” control.  
1.       Open the Scenario “Start Time” window located in the scenario tree (see Figure 1 below).
2.       The “Start Time and duration window” will now be displayed (See Figure 2 below). 
3.       Choose one of the 3 options to set the "UTC offset mode" (See Figure 3):
 
a.       Fixed Value – When fixed value is selected the UTC offset is set in the Start time and duration window in the "UTC Offset" box. (See Figure 1)
                                                               i.      Once set all constellations will follow this setting if applicable.
                                                             ii.      With this option selected the UTC settings within the individual constellation files will be greyed out.
 
b.      Legacy (constellation file) – UTC offset is set individually per constellation type within the Constellation files.
                                                               i.      The location of this setting will vary per constellation type. 
                                                             ii.      Figure 4 shows the GPS constellation file as an example.
                                                            iii.      When this option is selected the UTC Offset box is greyed out.
 
c.       Automatic – PosApp automatically sets the UTC offset value based on the start time/date of your scenario.
                                                               i.      Note this is the now the default option. 
                                                             ii.      The information is taken from the “Leap seconds history.txt” file in the “datum files” directory.
                                                            iii.      Individual Constellation settings are greyed out.
                                                           iv.       “UTC Offset” box will be greyed out.
