Positioning Application: How many no hardware licences can I have?
PosApp (SimGEN / SimREPLAYplus / SimREPLAY)
There is no limit to the quantity of licences that can be requested.
On request, Spirent will provide No Hardware licences free of charge.
Such requests must be received during the system’s support period.
However, with a free no hardware licence the installed version of PosApp will cease to be operational after the licence expiry date.
The licence expiry is linked to the support contract of your simulator hardware
For this reason it is always essential to specify the simulator model and serial number to which the no hardware licence shall be associated
No Hardware licences may also be purchased
Such licences permit continued use of the installed version of PosApp after the licence expiry date
In the same way as the Hardware-locked licence that is provided as standard with each system.
One licence shall be provided per purchase
You may purchase as many no hardware licences as are necessary
The No Hardware licence is an optional licence provided on request.
It is locked to the details of a PC chosen by the user and therefore must be installed on that chosen PC
So that the licence details can be authenticated when the application is started.
The user may only run scenarios in ‘no hardware’ mode, i.e. PosApp menu option [Options-->Control Options-->No hardware mode].
This can be of benefit for ‘off-line’ scenario development or efficient post-processing of scenario data using PosApp’s ‘turbo’ mode feature.
Although no hardware licences permit you to work 'offline' from your actual simulator hardware they must still be associated to that hardware capability
Spirent therefore keep a record not only of how many no hardware licences have been issued but also to which systems the licences are linked to
When you submit a no hardware licence request always ensure you reference the model and serial number of an associated simulator
More details about licences, how they work, how they can be requested, are contained in a document called "PosApp read me.pdf"
This is provided in the "Downloads" area of the CSC support website, alongside the PosApp software install pack download
