Positioning Application: Is it possible to use output distance between vehicle to GTx?

Environment/Versions
  • PosApp (SimGEN)
    • Scenario with Ground Transmitter (GTx) enabled
  • GSS7700 variant B, dual antenna model
  • GSS8000, dual antenna model or custom TS
Answer
  • Yes you can use signal 'Range' information in the data outputs
    • The GTx is treated by PosApp as a transmitter, i.e. like a satellite.
    • In this way you can simply rely on PosApp data output for “Range” ("True Range") to know the distance between vehicle and GTx.

  • QUICK-LOOK DATA
        a) Use the toolbar buttons to open quick-look display / plot / logging editor, as required
        b) Select 'Keyword' = 'Signal'
        c) Select 'Paramter' = 'Range'
        d) Set 'Tx Type' to the GTx type required
        e) 'Add selected' to display / plot / log the data
  • BULK LOGGING DATA
        a) Go to menu [Options-->Bulk logging options]
        b) Enable "Satellite data logging"
        c) Use the 'Range' column of data, ensuring that you filter the "Sat_type" column for GTx
  • DATASTREAMING
        a) Go to the scenario tree [Options-->Data streaming definition file-->Vehicle-->Antenna]
        b) Enable the required GTx signal type
        c) Use the 'True range' data, associated to the GTx "Signal type"
