Positioning Application: Why do I see about 2 dB's less power in dual box mode?

Environment/Versions

Dual box

  • GSS6700
  • GSS6300M
  • GSS6300
Answer

Of course regardless of mode you should get the same power. If power levels are different one of the following is possible:

  1. The user equipment is connected to the output of the wrong unit
    • In single box mode there is no choice of where to connect your device under test (DUT)
    • However in dual box mode there are two outputs; only 1 of them has all of the GNSS signals present and at the correct levels
      • Connect your DUT to the unit that has the AUX I/p present on the rear panel
  2. A  hardware error
    • Check the cable that connects the MON/CAL port to the AUX i/p is connected properly, also check for signs of damage
  3. A configuration error is present most likely in the sig_gen.txt file
    • send the file to support@spirent.com along with a problem description and the steps taken so far
