Spirent TestCenter: Why does TWAMP state show Established but in Test Sessions window show Idle?

Answer

There are multiple steps in TWAMP.
1. Establish TWAMP
  - Client starts a TCP session with server.
  - Server will send a "TWAMP_Control_Server-Greeting" message
  - Client will respond with a "TWAMP_Control_Set-Up-Response" message
  - Server will send a "TWAMP_Control_Server-Start" message
  - TestCenter TWAMP Client Results will show "Established"
  - TestCenter TWAMP Test Session Results will show "Idle"
    - (sessions has not yet been requested or started)
2. Request TWAMP sessions
  - Client will send a "TWAMP_Control_Request-TW-Session" message
  - Server will send a "TWAMP_Control_Accept-Session" message
  - TestCenter TWAMP Client Results will show "SessionsRequested"
  - TestCenter TWAMP Test Session Results will show "Accepted"
3. Start TWAMP sessions
  - Client will send a "TWAMP_Control_Start-Sessions" message
  - Server will send a "TWAMP_Control_Start-Ack" message
  - TestCenter TWAMP Client Results will still show "SessionsRequested"
  - TestCenter TWAMP Test Session Results will show "In Progress" and UDP packets will be transmitting.
You can also start all 3 steps in one shot by just starting the device.
