Positioning Application: What is User Defined Data(UDD)?

Environment/Versions
  • Positioning Application
  • User Defined Data
  • GPS and/or GLONASS
Answer
  • UDD is an optional ASCII text file that supplements or modifies the data specified in the signal sources files
  • UDD can be used to produce conflicting data, for example a user could:
    • Enable the 'Sat Orb data file' with satellite 1 in Position "A"
    • Enable the 'Eph Nav data file' with satellite 1 in Position "B"
    • Enable the 'Alm Nav data file' with satellite 1 in Position "C"
  • The above configuration would mean the following:
    • Satellite 1 is physically located in Position "A"
    • Satellite 1 broadcasts Ephemeris data to suggest it is in Post ion "B"
    • All other satellites broadcast almanac data to suggest satellite 1 is in position "C"
