Spirent TestCenter: Why a .tcc file opens in a different version than the version I created the configuration in?

Environment/Versions

  • STC all versions
  • GUI
  • .tcc configuration
Trying to open directly (double-click) a .tcc configuration you created and saved in a particular version/release won't always open into that same GUI version.

Answer

A .TCC file will be opened using the latest STC software version you installed in your PC.

Let's say as of now the latest version (August 2020) is 5.12, so you create a configuration using 5.12 and save it. Then, for some reason you had to install 4.85 software, trying to open directly that 5.12 file you previously created (double-click) will open in 4.85 software (since 4.85 is the latest software you installed)

To open the file in the version it was saved into, you first need to open the target GUI, and then open the configuration within it.

In case a .tcc files does NOT open on the latest software you have installed (and you need the file to be opened automatically on the latest software installed), you may want to try re-installing that software version, that should fix the issue.
