Spirent TestCenter: How to change different octets in an IPv6 address?

Environment/Versions
  • Spirent TestCenter.
  • IPv6 modifiers.
Answer
  • Create a Raw stream block and add 2 IPv6 modifiers.
Use the values below as an example:
  • In the first modifier configure:
Start modifier at offset 15
Type Increment
Count The number of times the last octet will be incremented.
Mask FF
Value The value at which the last octet will start
  • In the second modifier configure:
Start modifier at offset 14
Type Increment
Use Streams Enabled
Count The number of times the last octet will be incremented.
Mask FF
Value The value at which the last octet will start
NOTE: The snapshots above have the values I used for testing in our lab.
Offset: Refers to the octet that will be increasing its value.
Count: Refers to the number of times the octet will be increased before getting back to the original value.  In this case 0A.
Mask: Refers to how numbers in the octet are going to be modified.  If you use F the octet will increase from 0 to 9.
Value: Refers to the octet’s staring value.
  •  If you go to the Preview tab it will display something like this:
