When I verify instruments under PLTS, I get a Microsoftware Visual C++ runtime error and SimGen crashes. What can be the cause of that?

Answer

The most common cause for SimGen crashes are the due to the integrity of the sig_gen.txt file, located in the C:\Program Files\Spirent Communications\SimGEN folder. The content of the file consist of information that simGen uses to verify license. If the file is missing or the the integrity of the file is incorrect, that will cause simGen to crash. The following is the correct format for the sig_gen.txt file, where XXXX is the model of the GSS box (either 5060 or 6560), and YYYY is the 4 digit serial number of the GSS box.

IDENT    GSSXXXX             YYYY 12 0

CONFIG "Single XXXX #YYYY"
                UNIT                      YYYY       0              0
END CONFIG
