Spirent TestCenter: How to reset environment in your PC by deleting the Spirent Communications directory?

Sometimes strange GUI behaviour occurs with Spirent application such as display problems in the GUI or in the configuration screens as well as in the statistics screens. It is possible the STC environment is corrupted.
 
Answer

When your SPIRENT TESTCENTER environment is corrupted, delete the directories in the following directory. It will reset the SPIRENT TESTCENTER environment in your PC:

It's recommended to try first uninstalling the STC application, then delete the directory mentioned below, and then just after that, install the aplication again. However, we have seen this working WITHOUT uninstalling the application, so you can give it a try just removing the folder without removing the application, if that does not work, you may consider unistall the application, remove the folder and install the application again.

Delete the directories in the following directory:

  • for Windows 7 -> C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Spirent_Communications
  • for Windows XP -> C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Spirent_Communications
  • for Windows 10 -> C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Spirent_Communications
 This will remove ALL custom settings…so basically like it is when you install TestCenter
