Spirent TestCenter: How can I retrieve the log files, etc. (e.g., bll, chassis, port, tcc) from Spirent TestCenter through the GUI?

Environment/Versions

Spirent TestCenter (all versions)

Answer

Please follow the steps below and send the resultant "Diagnostic Report" when you report your issue.

1.  Connect to the chassis if you aren't already
2.  Save your configuration (.tcc)
Note: "save results" which will create a .db file which also can also be used
3.  If you are using 4.50 or higher
    Then
        Retrieve the "Chassis logs"
Generate and retrieve the "Diagnostic Report" (it'll be a single zip file).
    Else
Retrieve the "Chassis logs" or if using a Spirent TestCenter Lab Server retrieve the "Chassis logs" from the Lab Server
Retrieve the "Port logs" or if using a Spirent TestCenter Lab Server retrieve the "Port logs" from the Lab Server
Generate and retrieve the "Diagnostic Report" (it'll be a single zip file).

NOTE:
if the chassis was rebooted after the issue occurred, the chassis logs are deleted and so the one you get may not be relevant (but get them anyways)
if the ports that had issues were reboot after the issue occurred, the port logs are deleted and so the one you get may not be relevant (but get them anyways)

Once you have the "Diagnostic Report" (or "Exception log", see below) please:

  • attach it when opening a new Service Request; or
  • send it to the Spirent Support engineer working your existing Service Request.

NOTE: If your Spirent TestCenter GUI crashed, please follow the instructions in FAQ13493 to retrieve the auto-generated "Exception log".
