STCLive Probe: What settings should be used to communicate to the craft port of the STC Live Probes 6500, 7500, 7500C, 7521, 7531, 7541, 7502, 7506, Qscope 5500, 5500A.

Answer

For the 6500 / 7500:
9600 baud
8 data bits
No parity
1 stop bit
FLOW control: Hardware
Note, because of differences of VT emulation software, if FLOW = Hardware does not work try None (Off) or Software.

For the 7500C / 7521 / 7531 / 7541 / 7502 / 7506:
Baud:
115200 during boot up
9600 after boot up (for TL1)
8 data bits
No parity
1 stop bit
FLOW control: Hardware
Note, because of differences of VT emulation software, if FLOW = Hardware does not work try None (Off) or Software.

For the 5500:
9600 baud
8 data bits
No parity
1 stop bit
FLOW control: off
Note, because of differences of VT emulation software, if FLOW = OFF does not work try Hardware or Software.

5500A:
Baud Rate:
If unit is rev 3.00 or older use baud of 57600.
If its 3.30 or later use baud of 9600.
8 data bits
No parity
1 stop bit
FLOW control: Hardware
Note, because of differences of VT emulation software, if FLOW = Hardware does not work try None (Off) or Software.

If you see control/garbage characters, it is likely a FLOW setting issue.  Reconnect with a different FLOW setting.

If you do not see any response, power down the probe.  If it is a 750xx series, reseat all modules.  Power unit back on and retry the communicaton.
