What is MDI ( Media Delivery Index)?

Answer

MDI ( Media Delivery Index)

RFC 4445

MLR = Media Loss Rate
DF = Delay Factor
CC = Continuity Counter

    MDI is a technique used to evaluate the quality of IP based media streams (i.e. MPEG-TS, VOIP, and other time sensitive streaming media).
    Unlike MOS , MDI focuses on delay variation and packet loss to determine media quality.

    MLR is the measure of missing or out of order packets. This is accomplished by monitoring the CC of the transport stream headers. The lost packets are deduced by the non sequential CC counts. Out of order packets are deduced in a similar manner
   DF is the measurement of the variation of delay in packets.
