1.) Log in as root

2.) Insure that the tape device is not set to /dev/null

onmonitor or tbmonitor, A, Tape Parameter

3.) Insert the [DAT2(4gig) or DAT3(24Gig)] tape in drive

4.) ontape –s (to save) (tbtape -s for version 5)

5.) ontape –r (to restore) (tbtape -r for version 5)
