Positioning simulators: What is a "mid-range" GNSS simulator?

Answer

Simply put a mid-range GNSS simulator can only produce the freely available civilian signals.

Simulators in this category are the GSS6700, GSS6560, GSS4200 and the STR4500:-

  • The GSS6700 can run with any level of PosApp s/w either SimGEN, SimREPLAY or SimREPLAY plus.
  • The GSS6560 runs with PosApp SimGEN level. This h/w has been replaced with the GSS6700 using PosApp (SimGEN).
  • The STR4500 traditionally runs with SimPLEX (or Simplex45). These s/w applications are now replaced by PosApp (see article KNI10194). This h/w and s/w has been replaced with the GSS6700 using PosApp (SimREPLAY / SimREPLAYplus).
  • The GSS4200 is aimed at the production test environment and utilizes direct simulator control.
