Spirent TestCenter: What TCP ports are used between a Virtual Chassis (VM) and the License Server?

TCP ports used

  • v4.51 and prior
    • 27000 - 27200 - The default ports used by the License Server for Flexnet Licensing
    • 32768 - 61000 - Ephemeral ports used by the VM's Linux kernel to communicate with License Server
    • 22 (ssh) - Used to SCP (secure copy) a file from the License Server to the VM
  • v4.52 and above has moved these port numbers to the BLL which is on the PC (or the Lab Server if used).
    • 27000 - 27200 - The default ports used by the License Server for Flexnet Licensing
    • 32768 - 61000 - Ephemeral ports used by the VM's Linux kernel to communicate with License Server
    • 445 Used to copy the license file from license server to the client.  Client initiates the connection.
      • or it may use 22 (ssh) - Used to SCP (secure copy) a file from the License Server to the client.

Other protocols used

  • ARP
  • ICMP (VM periodically sends ICMP echo requests (Ping - ICMP message type 8) to the License Server to which it expects ICMP echo replies (ICMP message type 0))
