Abacus: My management connection between the PC (GUI) and the Abacus unit is broken frequently. How could I overcome this?

Answer

There could be many causes that result in the disconnection.  Therefore, the first thing you need to do is to find out why the management connection is broken.  Chances are that the network connecting the Abacus PC (GUI-PC) and the Abacus unit is not stable enough to sustain the connection, or there is congestion in the network.  If that is the case, you need to talk to your IT personnel to find out how to improve it.  In addition to this, there are a couple things you may consider:

1. Separate the management port from the test traffic port: Depending on the nature of your test, the internet traffic generated during your test may overload the network.  If your management port and the traffic port are not separated, the management port may be overwhelmed, resulting in a broken connection.

2. Consider to install a "local" PC close to the Abacus unit:  This will eliminate the problem when you connect to the Abacus units from "outside".  You need to install the Abacus GUI in this "local" PC, and access from outside using the remote access methodology appropriate to you (e.g. Remote Desk Top, Remote Terminal...)
