GSS7xxx: Why does the simulator boot sequence take longer than normal?

Environment/Versions
  • GSS7700 / 7735 / 7790 / 7800 / 7900
Answer
  • Periodically the simulator CPU card performs a system disk check
  • This causes the boot sequence to take longer than normal
  • Typical boot up duration is ~2-5 minutes
    • Some systems may take up to 10minutes to boot
  • When the disk check is being performed the boot sequence can be as long as twice the normal duration
    • 10-20 minutes

  • If the boot sequence is far in excess of these times or the boot sequence appears to not complete at all, see article KNI10907
