Avalanche: Can we set the bit rate at client side and how it works?

Answer

The manifest/playlist file from the adaptive streaming server contains all the possible bitrates that the server supports. Based on this list, you select your starting available bitrate from the following ranges:

  • Minimum
  • Median
  • Maximum (default)
  • UserDefined (enter your specific kbps in the adjacent field)

NOTE: For UserDefined, the next largest bitrate is used as the starting bitrate. For example, if you enter 100 kbps, and the server supports 64 kbps and 128 kbps, the starting bitrate will be 128 kbps.
