Spirent TestCenter: How to sync chassis clock using PTP?
Environment/Versions
Spirent TestCenter
Answer
You only need a DHCP source and a 1588 source into the RJ45 1588 port on the controller.
If you do not have a DHCP source on the same cat 5 connecter then you have to apply the static mode and addresses.
But 1588 source needs to be on that input.
Physical Location: For an N11U it is on the back for a N4U it is on the front.
The 1PPS is only for GPS not for 1588
A gotha: Make sure no one is connected to the chassis after you apply for up to 15 minutes.
This means no connection to the cards and chassis for that length of time. Once done, connect and look at tools/ equipment/time sync
If up your ready to go, if not try ssh back into the controller and do a deactivate then activate again.
Below is the steps to enable PTP on STC:
ssh to the chassis using username/password : admin/spt_admin
type " ptp activate" (Hit enter-->it will activate ptp)
Give enough time to the chassis to sync with your device.
