Answer To check memory utilization, run the following command and look at the used and free numbers on the second line (-/+ buffers/cache) - they represent the used and free memory in MB.  If you divide the used number from the second line by the total number from the first line, the result should be less than 75%. Compare the output of the command to previous results analyze trends and recognize problems ahead of time. $ free -m
