Vision Works Probe: Getting “CIR EXCEEDS LIMIT. RETRY LATER” error message when attempting an access on a VisionWorks Probe.

Answer
When you get this error message, do the following:
  • Verify the probe has the TOTALCIR and TOTALKFPS setting set correctly.  Follow FAQ18026.
If correct:
  • Find the comm log for the test that got the error message.
-or-
  • Telnet into the probe on port 7010.
  • If you telnet into the probe, issue : 
    • act-user::super:ctag::super
    • rtrv-cond-tst:::ctag
 
Now, add up all the CIRs for all the entries.  Remember that the TOTALCIR listed in RTRV-ATTR-EQPT output is across all ports and tests.  So, if you have a 7531 with a TOTALCIR=1000 and you have a 900mbs test on port 1, you will only be able to test up to 100mbs on port 2.
 
In the following example of a 7521 (10G), 1180mbs are already taken up leaving 8820mbs available for any type of test on either port.
