Symptoms Multicast traffic stops being forwarded after 2 minutes. Router no longer shows IGMP route. Sending Join again starts traffic. Environment Spirent TestCenter IGMPv2 IGMPv3 MLDv1 MLDv2 PIM-SSM IPv4 IPv6 Explanation/Resolution Source continues to transmit but router clears the multicast group from its table and stops forwarding traffic. It's possible setting up TestCenter to send queries could help but that is not normal multicast router behavior. The router is the one that should be sending queries to determine if client still wants to receive traffic. In most cases, the router requires PIM setup and to have the source be a PIM neighbor.
