Spirent TestCenter Virtual: STC Client crashes on 2 different terminal servers (VMs) running Windows Server 2008 R2 on multiple test cases

Symptoms

We're having issues with the client where the application crashes (closes) on below multiple scenarios:

  1.  before connecting to a chassis
  2.  after loading a saved profile
  3.  when starting a test
  4.  while running a test
  5.  while idle, not running a test.

This is occurring on 2 different terminal servers (VMs) running Windows Server 2008 R2.

Root Cause

The problem was an overloaded development VM stack. VM's disk IO was consistently running at 95% to 99%. Once the admins kicked users off and killed some VMs all our problems went away.
