Spirent TestCenter: How do I retrieve the "port logs" from a Spirent TestCenter test running on a Spirent TestCenter Lab Server?

Environment/Versions
  • This is relevant to versions prior to the 4.50 release.
  • In 4.50 and above, opening a separate instance is not necessary to get the port logs when using the Lab Server - they are retrieved with the 'Generate Diagnostic Report' function.

Retrieving Port Logs from a Lab Server test

If your test is running off of a Lab Server, unfortunately, the port logs need to be retrieved and sent in separately.

To get the port logs from a test running on a Lab Server:

- Open a separate STC GUI instance;
- Connect to the chassis (but you don't need to reserve any ports);
- go to Tools > Equipment view > Port Group tab,
- select the port group you want the logs for to recover the logs from
  (you can multi-select rows using <ctrl>+click or <shift>+click)

This creates a zip for each port group.  The filenames have the format:
     fwlogs-<chassis IP>_<slot>_<port>-<date>-<time>.tgz

and are located in:
         C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\My Documents\Spirent\TestCenter <version>\Logs\<date>_<time>

Please send these "Port logs" in along with the "Diagnostic Report" when you report your issue.
