Spirent TestCenter : How do I configure, using the TestCenter MII Registers Advanced to auto-negotiate to different speeds and duplexes 1 Gigabit copper ports?
Environment/Versions
Spirent TestCenter
MII Register
Answer
I note our copper PHY chip does not support 1 Gigabit half duplex.
On the Port – Ethernet Advanced Tab – Port Setup Apply Mode select General/Advanced Ethernet Parameters only and click to Apply
-> Configure your current Registers Advanced
STC - On the Port – Ethernet Advanced Tab – Port Setup Apply Mode select MII Registers Only (Developer Mode)
STC - On the Registers Advanced Tab change register 4 to 1E1 (for 100/full), register 9 to 0 and then MII register 0 to 1340 (bit 9 to auto-neg), click Apply
-> Verify the speed on Ethernet General Tab – Auto-Negotiation Status
On the Registers Advanced Tab change port MII register 0 to 1140 (bit 9 to no auto-neg) and click Apply, please verify
To configure the ports for any value other than the default 1 Gig auto-neg, use the same procedure and the following values:
(reg 4)
100/full (01E1)
100/half (00E1)
10/full (0061)
10/half(0021)
(reg9)
0
To configure back to 1 gig:
STC - change port MII register 0 to 1140 (bit 9 to no auto-neg) and click Apply
STC - change port register 4 to 1E1, register 9 to 200 and MII register 0 to 1340 (bit 9 to auto-neg), click Apply and link on both ports change to 1000 full, please verify
