Avalanche: Getting "test division error - null" error

Objective/Summary
  • This article will provide potential workarounds for this issue.
Procedure
  • This issue is most often caused by a corrupt test but can sometimes also be indicative of a corrupt installation. Also a corrupt Firmware/Software installed into the Chassis Appliance could generate this error:
Steps to diagnose and fix are as follows:
  1. Try running this same test on another PC to rule out the environment.
  2. To determine if it is the test itself, try running a back to back test using the GUI generated tests under Tools>Generate Sample Test.  If this works fine, it indicates the original test is corrupt and needs to be recreated.
  3. If the above back to back test didn't work, try reinstalling the Avalanche GUI software and the software on the appliance or card.
  4. If another chassis is available and in a well-known state (working with another test) you can change ports assigned to your test under Associations and Ports tabs. If this works fine, it indicates the firmware can be corrupted in the chassis and reimage should be done over the chassis appliance.
  5. If none of the above works, please contact Spirent Support at 1-800-SPIRENT to arrange for the unit to be repaired.
