Spirent TestCenter: Why do I get “ERROR - in perform: Validation failed: Generate Stream Block from pcap file 1 : No TShark is installed" when I try to generate streamblock from Wireshark capture files using TCL?

Answer

When SpirentTestCenter does not understand the TShark installation path, STC throws the validation error.

  1. Make sure you have correctly installed Wireshark.
  2. Edit the stcbll.ini file in the root directory (C:\Program Files\Spirent Communications\Spirent TestCenter 3.xx\Spirent TestCenter Application”), and add the following at the bottom of the file:

For Windows XP

 [ThirdPartyConfiguration]
  wireshark=C:\Program Files\Wireshark\tshark.exe

For Windows 7

 [ThirdPartyConfiguration]
 wireshark=C:\Program Files (x86)\Wireshark\tshark.exe
