Setting the IP Address using Telnet
The following procedure describes the use of Telnet with the Windows XP operating system. Other operating systems offer similar features, but the specific syntax may be different.
To set the IP address using Telnet:
1 Select Start > Run >
CMD
.
The Windows Command window opens.
2 Type Telnet
IP address
. The Telnet window opens.
3 Connect to the chassis by entering the chassis default IP address (192.168.0.100) for the software.
The chassis prompt appears: (the example shown is for the SPT-2000A):

admin
Password:
spt_admin
Access the chassis by logging in.
An admin user has read-write privileges. Log in as “admin” to change chassis parameters (IP address, gateway, netmask, etc.).
a) At the login prompt, Login: type admin <enter>.
b) At the password prompt, Type spt_admin <enter>.
When log in is complete, you see the same command prompt (>>)
You can type help for a list of chassis commands.
• To view the chassis IP addressed the command appropriate for your chassis controller type.
– Controller 1 chassis:
getipaddress
– Controller 2 chassis:
ipaddress
<no parameter>
• To set the chassis IP address, type the command appropriate for your chassis controller type.
– Controller 1 chassis:
setipaddress
– Controller 2 chassis:
ipaddress
<new ip address>
To apply and save the settings by completing one of the following procedures:
• Enter the Spirent TestCenter command appropriate for your chassis controller type:

Controller 1 chassis:
updateip
–
Controller 2 chassis:
activate
This will save the configurationsettings, but
You then have to reboot the chassis for this configuration changes to take effect.
Type
Reboot
this will reboot the chassis and implement the IP address changes.
•You can also perform a Power-cycle the chassis:
–
Turn off the DC power to the chassis by pressing the
POWER
button on the
front
of the chassis. Do
NOT
use the AC master power switch on the chassis back panel.
–
Wait until the main cooling fans turn off - at least 45 seconds.
–
Press the
POWER
button again to turn the power back on.
• Reset the chassis by pressing the
RESET
button on the front of the chassis.
