Positioning Appliction: Why do I get the message "Error: 'Cannot find h/w configuration <config name>. Using the first in the h/w configuration list which is <config name>'"?

Environment/Versions
  • PosApp (SimGEN / SimREPLAYplus / SimREPLAY)
Answer
  • Hardware (h/w) configuration (config) listings are held in a file called sig_gen.txt, stored in the PosApp directory
  • This message informs you that PosApp cannot find the h/w config that was used when you last started the software
  • Instead, PosApp will select the first config in the current list.
  • This can happen if the sig_gen.txt file has been
    • Removed / Deleted
    • Replaced
    • Modified

  • The example in Figure 1 explains that
    • PosApp cannot find a h/w config called "GSS7700#8888" in the current sig_gen.txt file
    • Instead the first h/w config from the current sig_gen.txt file will be used, which is called "6700 3 L1".

WHAT TO DO

  1. If you know the sig_gen.txt file has changed and you are confident it is the one you want to use
        a) Simpy acknowledge the message and continue working
        b) If necessary/applicable, use menu [Tools-->Change hardware configuration] to select the h/w config you want to use

  2. If you know the sig_gen.txt file has changed but are uncertain if it's the correct one  -OR-  you didn't know the sig_gen.txt file has changed
        a) Acknowledge the message and allow PosApp to start
        b) Go to menu [Tools-->Change hardware configuration]
        c) Check the available list of h/w configs
        d) If these match your expectation then continue working as normal
        e) If these do not match your expectation then either
                i) Locate the correct sig_gen.txt file for your system and copy this back to the PosApp directory
ii) Contact Spirent Global Services to request a copy of your sig_gen.txt (see below)
