Spirent TestCenter: To sync with GPS, why is 10Mhz, 1pps, and serial port needed to sync with the time?
Answer
The Getting Started with Spirent TestCenter GPS Kit described, STC need three connections (serial, 1pps, 10MHz) to sync with GPS.
The serial connection provides TOD (Time of Day), and the 1 PPS and 10 MHZ clock provided frequency and phase synchronization to all the clock supplicants such as Spirent TestCenter and the Attero-X. These three elements ensure no clock drift.
