UNIX: Why do I get mail from cron that states 'stty: : Not a typewriter'?

Answer

Example of the email:

stty: : Not a typewriter

*************************************************
Cron: The previous message is the standard output
and standard error of one of your crontab commands:
. ~pmiowner/.profile; /hekimian/pmint/users/pmiowner/testscript

This happens if the /etc/profile or the unix user's profile is setting stty parameters.

Example of a stty setting in profile file:

stty intr <ctrl>C

To resolve this remove or comment out the stty settings from the profile file.
