Spirent Knowledge Base: While browsing through the KB, what are the Categories and what are they used for?

Answer

The Spirent Knowledge Base includes two ways of finding content: searching (read some tips on searching) and browsing. Because the KB has a large amount of content, we recommend most people use search, since it will usually help you find what you're looking for more quickly. Browsing is, however, very useful in discovering content, and when combined with searching, offers a powerful combination to improve your productivity on the Spirent KB.

To browse:

  1. Choose the section of the KB you're interested in (e.g. FAQ, Solutions, Documentation)
  2. Narrow your list of articles in that section by clicking on Categories relevant to your interest.

Here are the relevant categories, some of which do not appear in every section of the KB:
    • Document Type: further subdivides the articles in that section into specific types (e.g. User Guides or Installation in Documentation)
    • Hardware: Lists various Spirent hardware
    • Protocol: A list of more than 120 protocols to narrow the articles to ones relevant to just one protocol
    • Software: Lists the various Spirent software
    • Tech Area: A list of broad technical areas, such as Security, Routing and GPS
  3. Some Categories will have sub-categories that go down a few levels. You can use that to further narrow down your articles to just the articles that you want to read
