Spirent TestCenter: Is it possible to use a non-spirent tshark in STC?
Environment/Versions
STC 4.75
STC 5.11
Wireshark 1.10.3 (available in CSC)
Wireshark 3.2.5
Answer
Unfortunatelly, the only officially supported Wireshark version to generate the streamblocks from a PCAP file is the one provided by Spirent in the CSC (Wireshark 1.10.3).
However, tests where generating Stremblocks from a PCAP file while using STC 5.11 and Wireshark’s latest stable release 64bit (3.2.5) shows it works just fine.
On the other hand, testing the same on STC 4.75 didn’t work with Wireshark’s latest stable release 64bit (3.2.5).
According to
KNI14908
, seems that there were fixes made in 4.90, therefore later wireshark versions might work when using an STC version equal or higher than 4.90
Recommendation is to use the Wireshark version provided by Spirent or upgrade to latest STC version to avoid this issues
