Spirent TestCenter: What are the steps to follow to run an EL4-7 test with a DHCP client?
Environment/Versions
Spirent TestCenter.
Enhanced L4-7.
DHCP client.
Answer
If you start a DHCP client in the Spirent TestCente Application and then go to the EL4-7 Web UI, edit the test, and hit the Update button, the DHCP client might change from Bound to Idle state.
This occurs because the test switches from non-EL47 mode to EL47 mode (the daemons are restarted to bring up the DPDk and EL47 drivers), causing the DHCP client to go back to IDLE state.
Below is the correct step order to start the DHCP client when running EL4-7.
Configure the emulated devices in the Spirent TestCenter Application.
Open the EL4-7 Web UI, configure the test, and hit the Update button.
Go back to the Spirent TestCenter application and start the DHCP client devices.
After the DHCP client gets to Bound state, go back to the Web UI and start the test.
NOTE:
First set the configuration and hit the Update button in the EL4-7 Web UI, then go back to the Spirent TestCenter Application to start the DHCP client; after it bounds, go back to the Web UI and start the test.
