Positioning Application: What method do Spirent use to generate the PRS noise code sequence in the Galileo-capable simulators?

  • The PRS-Noise signal is a sampled P-Code signal. The chosen Galileo PRN number for a particular satellite will be used as the PRN for the P-code sequence that gets sampled, i.e. Galileo PRN = 1 will use P-code sequence for GPS PRN = 1. The P-code sequence will 'start' in accordance with the chosen scenario start time/date, i.e. the chosen GPS TOW.
  • If the Galileo PRN is even, even bits of P-Code are selected
        - For a 5Mchip rate PRN chips 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 are used as the PRS noise code
        - For a 2.5Mchip PRN chips 2, 6, 10, 14 are used as the PRS noise code
     
  • If the Galileo PRN is odd, odd bits of P-Code are selected
        - For a 5Mchip rate PRN chips 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15 are used as the PRS noise code
        - For a 2.5Mchip PRN chips 1, 5, 9, 13 are used as the PRS noise code
