Why do I see the session is established and the counts of Rx/Tx data packets in the report even though the port is down on Landslide?

Answer

If you just connected two interfaces back to back (looped) on one test server, the control/data traffic will not be able to send out through the interface, it is just the internal traffic. So you would not see any packet was captured in the pcap file. And this is why you could see the session was established and the counts of Rx/Tx data packets in the report even though the interface was down.

I setup a similar test scenario as below, I connected eth0 and eth1 to a Cisco3550 L3 switch via one test server. Everything is working fine.

UMTS test case:
Eth0:
RNC control node 10.200.76.1 (GW IP 10.200.76.254 on L3 switch)
RNC user Node 10.200.76.2 (GW IP 10.200.76.254 on L3 switch)

Eth1: GGSN Control Node 10.201.76.3 (GW IP 10.201.76.254 on L3 switch)
Eth1: Local Network Host 10.201.76.15 (GW IP 10.201.76.254 on L3 switch)

SGSN Node:
Eth1: SGSN Control Node 10.201.76.1 (GW IP 10.201.76.254 on L3 switch)
Eth1: SGSN User Node 10.201.76.2 (GW IP 10.201.76.254 on L3 switch)
