Spirent TestCenter: Why does an STC emulated device sends RST,ACK messages?
Environment/Versions
Spirent TestCenter.
TCP - ACK/RST
Answer
If a
TCP SYN
packet is sent when a
client
wants to connect on a particular port, but if the
destination/server
, for some reason, does not want to accept the packet, it would send an
ACK+RST
packet.
RST/ACK
is used to end a TCP session. The packet is ACKnowledging receipt of the previous packet in the stream, and then closing that same session with a RST (Reset) packet being sent to the far end to let it know the connection is being closed.
Since this is the normal way TCP operates, there's no way to disable it on the Spirent TestCenter Application.
